Proposal
Project Description
The methodology of our group project is to craft visuals that follow a linear narrative centered around the themes of mysticism, alchemy, and desire. We developed an essential storyline exploring the concept of metamorphoses of the elements and exchange in alchemy and the consequences of disillusionment when such exchanges fail.
The video integrates audio-reactive and motion-activated videography created with TouchDesigner, as well as Blender-rendered models. We also used a second projector and camera to project live images onto the surface of a pool. The stage design consists of two complementary components: a cascading, five-layer voile construction hanging from the ceiling, creating visual illusions and crescent-shaped negative spaces reminiscent of pupils. The fluidity of this translucent texture harmonizes with the reflective pool in front, made from mylar paper and softened by voile textures. Lighting effects further enhance the scene, creating a dynamic interplay that evokes the step-printing effect of the choreography in Sleep No More.
